There are some things that I leave to fanon—like Dave Karofsky’s middle name, or a character’s favorite food, or their shoe size. Definitely who they date. But a character’s name seems like a pretty big thing to leave to fanon, and I was having a minor freak-out over what to call Monroe in the Grimm fic I’m trying to write.

This is about as close as I’ve gotten to a canon first name for Monroe. It’s never said in the show and it doesn’t appear in the credits, but he’s listed on IMDB as “Eddie Monroe,” and there are two official features available to view for free on Amazon that credit him as Eddie Monroe as well. So, unless and until the show tells me different, Monroe’s first name will be Eddie for me.

It is just Monroe. They have not given a first name.

From an interview with Silas Weir Mitchell: “On the eve of the show’s second episode, Mitchell met with TV writers during a press call, noting that his character’s name is Monroe - just Monroe. ‘Somehow the name Eddie Monroe mistakenly got out there and now everyone assumes my character’s name is Eddie Monroe - for the record it’s just Monroe.’”
